To the N is the Potomac River. To the south there is a higher terrace with similar mixture of plants only it appears younger and weedier. Down river are several limestone cliffs along the river. See plots NCTC. 10-13 for more context.;Sycamore floodplain forest on alluvial terrace 5 m above the current water level. The terrace is roughly 15 m wide and appears to flood with some frequency. There is a large pile of flotsom on the down river end of the plot. There is flood debris 3-5 m up in the T3 strata. There is lots of exposed alluvial soil in the plot.

Medium sized patch of Platanus occidentalis floodplain forest. Similar to plots sampled yesterday on the upriver end of the NCTC grounds. Early spring sample. Vanderhorst revisited plot on July 26, 2011 to update herb cover.
